PATRICK GAREIS, a Senior Associate with the Firm’s Subrogation Department, has over 25 years of litigation experience with extensive involvement in complex scene investigations. Patrick specializes in large value property subrogation matters, but has also handled defense files and environmental disputes.
Patrick has almost fifty jury trials in both state and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions across the country, serving as the first chair in the overwhelming majority of those matters. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, admitted to practice in Illinois (state and federal) and has appeared pro hac vice in well over two dozen jurisdictions outside Illinois. Patrick has presented to MABAS 10 and served as the principal advising attorney for the IAAI’s final trial Practicum for the 2019 Expert Certification Curriculum.
Prior to his civil practice, Patrick spent over ten years serving as a prosecutor with the Cook County States Attorney’s Office, where he was a First Chair in the Felony Trial Division. Patrick is also an adjunct professor at the College of DuPage, where he continues to teach constitutional policing at the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy.
Patrick is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University (B.A.) and IIT Chicago-Kent, College of Law (J.D.).
